Battery Deterioration
For emissions tests, it is required to meet standards
under conditions of deteriorated vehicles, and judgment
is made based on values after endurance run. (Same for
PHEV) For FE tests, impact by vehicle’s running
distance (deterioration) is found, albeit not so large. Also,
when considering internal combustion vehicles only, the
degree of FE deterioration due to running distance on
each vehicle is considered small; hence, tests are
conducted under new vehicle conditions. For PHEV,
battery deterioration (low battery, charge/discharge
efficiency, etc.) have direct impact on FE values, Plug-in
range and Equivalent EV Range. For the PHEV testing
method, tests will be conducted under new vehicle
conditions for the time being; however, study into impact
of battery deterioration on FE etc. will be continued,
along with discussion concerning the need of endurance
tests for overall FE tests.
