Of the 8,279 patients who developed an acute
kidney injury while hospitalized in 191 U.S. Department
of Veterans Affairs (VA) ICUs, 56.5% recovered
full kidney function, including 66% of
those with AKIN stage 1 disease and 30% of those
with AKIN stage 2 disease.10
