experience is essentially circular and repetitious. Life without meaning cannot have a focus or move directly toward some objective. It doesn't "go on" so much as repeat itself. A circular structure communicates the lack of real progress or resolution. The circle of the play's action described the sense of infinity--a circle goes on forever--and circumscription--you get nowhere, and might as well be in a cage. The sensation of nothingness is that of total possibility--no restriction--and total futility at the same time: "Nothing to be done," which is the first line of waiting for godot. A circle equals 0, which equals nothing.
