[17,20,32,43]. In the present study, the serum IgM levels of fish fed
L. plantarum VSG3 supplemented diets were significantly higher
compared to the control group after 30 days of feeding; however,
the IgM levels decreased thereafter and were lower than control
level after 60 days of feeding. In line with our finding, Sun et al. [20]
observed that Bacillus supplemented diets stimulated serum Ig
level in E. coioides until 30 days, and thereafter, the Ig levels
decreased in probiotic supplemented groups. The plasma total IgM
content in rainbow trout fed dietary L. rhamnosus JCM 1136 showed
an increasing trend upto 20 days of feeding, and thereafter
a dropping pattern prevailed [40]. These reports suggest that the
augmentation of Immunoglobulin levels is a short term phenomenon
attributable to probiotics
