David Beckham is returning to the soccer field—and for a great cause!
The 40-year-old revealed the news on BBC Radio 1's Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw on Friday.
"Obviously, everyone knows I retired three years ago and I never thought I'd actually be getting my boots out again and play but everyone knows that I'm ambassador of UNICEF so we've come together with UNICEF and we've decided to raise funds by doing a game," he said. "So I'll be bringing my boots back out, playing in a game on November 14 at Old Trafford, which again, I'm excited about."
"It's amazing, you know, obviously, I'm very proud to have been ambassador for UNICEF for the amount of time that I have and obviously, 2014 was one of the worst years for children and for the violence against children, so we're trying to make things better, we're trying to help children around the world and I think this is a good way of doing it," he said. "I think people are gonna love it."
David, who was named a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador 10 years ago, will serve as the captain of the Great Britain team, while retired French soccer star Zinedine Zidane will lead the Rest of the World team. Old Trafford is the home of the team which started his career, Manchester United. Tickets to the game will be sold on its website.
