ong Suk smiled. ‘Are you happy?’
Shin Hye let go of his hand and nodded her head. 'I really am,'
‘Ahh, I’m jealous,’ Jong Suk stretched his arms and put his clasped hands behind his head. Shin Hye watched as he leaned back and looked to the sky. ‘My dream girl just rejected me. But at least she’s happy.’
Shin Hye hissed. ‘Do you know how many girls want to date you? Half of Daehan min guk.’
‘But not one of them is you,’ he replied regretfully. ‘You know what sucks? I can never be friends with the girls I like. I'm too shy around them, and self-conscious. But for some reason, I got close to you. I thought maybe you're the one,’ he laughed. Shin Hye laughed a little and wrapped her hand around her mug. She noticed that it had cooled down now, but she was feeling warmer.
She lifted her eyes to look at Jong Suk and saw that he was already looking at her affectionately. He gave her a smile. ‘No one is quite like you, Park Shin Hye. When the world finds out you’re dating Lee Min Ho, hearts will break.’
When Jong Suk and Shin Hye went back into the house, a frantic-looking Woo Bin hurriedly approached them. ‘Ya, where have you two been? Min Ho hyung is really mad right now. He thinks you two left the party together. Oy, Lee Jong Suk. He knows you were talking about Shin Hye when we were playing. Palli, palli. He’s about to throw a fit!’
Shin Hye knit her brows in confusion, but she darted straight to the playroom with Jong Suk. When they opened the door, Min Ho’s hands were on the billiard table, his body leaning forward and his head hung low. He looked up at them with an anxious expression.
‘Hyung, it’s not what you think. We were just at the garden and we just drank coffee for a bit. We weren’t even gone for so long,’ Jong Suk explained in lightning speed. ‘Shin Hye really likes you and she said she’s happy.’
Min Ho stood up straight and frowned. ‘What are you talking about?’
Just then, Woo Bin’s laughter pierced the room. He put his hands on Jong Suk and Shin Hye’s shoulders. ‘Sorry guys. Revenge. He slid his arm off Shin Hye and put Jong Suk in a head lock. ‘Ya! I can’t believe you called me stupid so harshly. I rejected Tazza 2 because it was exactly like my character in Friend 2. It was a good career decision, jashik-ah! You really hurt my feelings,’ Woo Bin said as he tried to control a wriggling Jong Suk.
When he let him go, Jong Suk coughed a little and fixed his hair. ‘Mian. I was experiencing some weird feelings when I said that. I didn’t mean it,’ he smiled at Woo Bin before turning to Min Ho. ‘Keunde… why did you look mad, hyung?’
‘Huh? No, I wasn’t mad,’ Min Ho clarified. ‘I was, ermm, thinking.’
Woo Bin let out a laugh. ‘I beat hyung in arm wrestling so he’s playing Cha Eun Sang. And I’m playing Kim Tan. Which is good because I’ve always thought Min Ho hyung was playing that character too safely. My version of Kim Tan is way more aggressive.’
‘YA!’ Min Ho scowled.
‘Chincha?’ Jong Suk’s eyes brightened. He turned to Shin Hye. ‘What kind of punishment did you give them?’
Shin Hye smirked. ‘You’ll see. Oy, you two, it’s time.’
Shin Hye and Jong Suk were by the staircase, giggling, as they watched Min Ho and Woo Bin walk to the middle of the living room. A few people noticed and paused to look, while the rest ignored them and continued their conversations. From there, Shin Hye saw Rain talking with a few guys. Woo Bin’s group of friends were also there: Lee Soo Hyuk, Sung Joon, Hong Jong Hyun. There were some idols, too. Shin Hye recognized Kwanghee, and some of the Girl’s Day members.
Shin Hye saw Woo Bin give Min Ho a signal, but it looked like Min Ho was resisting. She didn’t know what scene they picked, but she was sure that Woo Bin would have chosen something hilarious.
Min Ho whispered to Woo Bin and after that, they made their way out the door.
‘Ah meoya, where are they going?’ Shin Hye mumbled.
Just then, Min Ho opened the door forcefully that people turned to looked at him. He walked inside slowly, with his head down. Woo Bin was one step behind, both hands in his pockets, looking serious. Woo Bin stopped in the middle of the room, and turned around to walk out the door again. This time, Min Ho spun around and surprise registered on his face when he didn’t see Woo Bin anywhere. He paced in the middle of the room, looking at the guests, as if trying to search for Woo Bin. This time, the guests were fully aware that something was up and has stopped what they were doing to watch at a crazy-looking Min Ho.
Shin Hye stifled a laugh when she realized what scene they were doing. She also wondered what was going through the guests’ minds. She whipped out her phone and started to record.
Min Ho went near the door again, and stared at it for a long time. At that moment, Woo Bin appeared from the other side of the room. Shin Hye figured he must have used the kitchen door to go back inside. He stood at the centremost spot of the room and waited for Min Ho to turn around. When he did, Min Ho gasped when he saw Woo Bin. Shin Hye could see that he was trying hard not to laugh.
‘Why did you look for me?’ Woo Bin asked out loud. The few guests who weren't paying attention were now fully engaged in the scene in front of them.
‘Don’t talk to me,’ Min Ho replied, looking distressed.
Jong Suk started laughing quietly. Most of the guests were frowning, looking absolutely confused.
Woo Bin took one step closer. Min Ho backed away. ‘Don’t come near me.’ Min Ho turned his back on him.
Woo Bin removed his hands from his pockets and walked briskly to Min Ho’s figure. He hugged him from behind, Woo Bin's arms enveloping Min Ho's body.
The guests gasped and gaped, and Shin Hye couldn’t hold back her laughter anymore. She started sɳιɡɡегing loudly that some people turned to look at her. When they saw her with her phone, recording the whole thing, they figured out that it was all for show.
Woo Bin turned Min Ho around, so they were facing the guests instead of the door. Min Ho closed his eyes and pursed his lips, looking like he was concentrating.
Woo Bin, on the other hand, was immersed in character. He didn’t even look like he was having a hard time doing this in front of so many people. So this is aggressive Kim Tan, Shin Hye thought.
‘Stop,’ Min Ho finally said as he opened his eyes.
The crowd cheered and hooted, some guests who were in the dining room and kitchen all converged in the living room to watch Woo Bin and Min Ho. Phones were already out and recording the performance.
‘Lee Min Ho,’ Woo Bin started to say, fully committed to the act. ‘I can’t let you go.’
‘WOOOOOOOHHHH!’ The cheers were louder this time. ‘POPO!’ Shin Hye heard one of the guests shout. Everybody laughed; Min Ho and Woo Bin also couldn’t contain it anymore and were starting to smile.
‘Ottoke?!’ Woo Bin cried out. Min Ho lifted his arms and broke free from Woo Bin’s hug. He pushed him back with a lot of strength that Woo Bin steadied himself by taking a step back. Before Min Ho could dash off, Woo Bin pulled his arm. Min Ho’s eyes widened when Woo Bin held his arm close.
‘I said I’ll get you. I said for you to wait. Please stay where I tell you to. Wait if I tell you to wait,’ Woo Bin recited Kim Tan's lines perfectly.
‘YA! This is another scene!’ Min Ho exclaimed.
‘I’m improvising. Mash-up, mash-up. This scene is a crowd-favorite,’ Woo Bin replied.
‘Kiss scene! Kiss scene!’ Bo Young chanted, and some of the guests followed.
‘Andwae!’ Min Ho tried to pull his hand from Woo Bin, laughing hard. ‘Ya, let me go!’ The crowd got louder, chanting some more.
Woo Bin remained serious. ‘Don’t go if I say don’t go! From now on, you come and go with me. Arasso?’
‘Don’t you dare, Kim Woo Bin!’ Min Ho screamed, but Woo Bin ignored him and used his other hand to cup his chin. ‘YA! Get away from me!’
Woo Bin was laughing now, as he leaned in and tried to hold Min Ho’s face in place. Min Ho writhed and wriggled. ‘I’m really going to kiss you if you don’t stop!’ He challenged.
‘Gwaenchana. I heard you’re a great kisser!’ Woo Bin replied. The place was chaotic now. Eventually Min Ho freed himself, and Woo Bin clutched his stomach laughing.
‘Sorry for that, yorobeun,’ Min Ho chuckled, addressing the room. We lost a bet to Park Shin Hye and Lee Jong Suk.’ Min Ho caught Shin Hye’s eye and he gave her a little wink. Shin Hye’s stomach did backflips, she couldn’t help but break into a sheepish grin.
Min Ho bowed to everyone, and so did Woo Bin. The guests clapped their hands and cheered.
‘I think you make a better Cha Eun Sang than me, oppa.’
Shin Hye laughed, remembering the re-enactment from Jong Suk’s party. She was behind the driving wheel, on their way to Min Ho’s pad. She and Min Ho had just left Jong Suk’s house after mingling a little bit more. Min Ho and Woo Bin's performance was the talk of the party. Woo Bin was enjoying the comments about him being a better Kim Tan than Min Ho.
‘Anya, I’m not as pretty as you,’ Min Ho replied.
‘Aigoo. You sure know how to make women’s hearts flutter. This is why I told Woo Bin you’re a flirt.’
‘Ya. I only flirt with my girlfriend!’
Shin Hye glanced at Min Ho in the passenger’s seat and hissed. She looked briefly at her watch. It was almost three in the morning.
‘Keunde…’ Min Ho broke the silence. ‘Did you... talk to Jong Suk?’
As soon as she heard Min Ho's question, Shin Hye recalled her conversation with Jong Suk in the garden, and their conversation before they left the party. Min Ho was still inside saying goodbye to some guests, so Shin Hye went out ahead.
‘Just so you know, my heart still hurts, but I’m hopeful it’ll stop soon enough,’ Jong Suk said as he walked Shin Hye to her car. He didn’t sound so dejected anymore, but his words still saddened her.
'It will,' she replied, smiling. 'Thanks fo
