The present study has described the perspectives of
Iranian nurses and head nurses, and observational notes
on how nurse leaders facilitated safe care. Iranian nurses
were assigned leadership positions without having
the necessary educational qualifications for taking the
positions. There is hope that educational materials will
soon be incorporated into the Iranian process of
choosing competent nurse leaders, as the educational
requirements for nurse leaders and recruitment to
nursing management positions need serious consideration
in order to develop competent nursing leadership
