2.2. Biological results: anticancer activity
All newly synthesized compounds were initially evaluated for
their in vitro anticancer activity against human breast carcinoma
cell lines (MCF-7), human ovary carcinoma cell lines (A2780) and
human lung carcinoma cell lines (NCIeH460) using cisplatin as a
positive control and using the MTT assay as described previously
[25] with slight modifications. As shown in Table 2 the compounds
8 and 9 showed an inhibitory activity, with an IC50 of 56 and
942 mM respectively, against human ovary carcinoma cells, being
inactive at the other cell lines. The other compounds evaluated
showed little activity with percentage inhibition values lower than
50% at 100 mM
