Recently, nutraceuticals and medicinal plants have become the focus of current medical research. The fruit primarily contained tannins, alkaloids, phenolic compounds, amino acids, carbohydrates and other compounds especially the essential nutrients. The vitamin C content in Amla varies from 200-900mg/100g from batch to batch. The comprised investigation explored physico-chemical, phyto-chemical and nutraceutical profile of this versatile and reputed ethnomedicinal fruit through basic scientific research to establish the rational scientific foundation of its utility as rejuvenating food and tonic
