2.2. Fermentation
To obtain the feed from the process of pervaporation, 0.002 m3
of fermentation broth was produced, as described by Schulz
(2010). Rejected banana fruit (Musa cavendishii) was used as lignocellulosic
material (500 g L1 wet mass) and 20% (v/v) of inoculum
(Saccharomyces cerevisiae). After a period of 10 h of fermentation,
different ethanol mass fractions were obtained in broths for pervaporation
tests. The total volume of the broth was centrifuged
at 3800 min1 (3018g) for 1200 s in a refrigerated centrifuge and
then stored at 277 K.
