What Do I Need to Tell the Patient/Patient’s Family?
Keep a headache diary to record triggers and features of attacks, and seek medical attention if headaches worsen or do not respond to medications
Good sleep hygiene is important, including maintaining a regular sleep and wake time, getting an age-appropriate number of hours of sleep each night, restricting caffeine intake, and limiting excitement at bedtime (e.g., avoiding television, computer usage, and video games)
