Reportedly, high salt is not always toxic or adverse to all the plants in that the Na ion is also essential for some blue–green algae, as well as for C4 plant species in some families (Brownell, 1979) through promoting plant growth (Wang et al., 2008; Abdul Qados, 2011, and the references therein; Cabot et al., 2014, and the references therein). Such Na ion effects are also reflected in cassava.
