In this special issue we focus on the session on ‘‘Biodiversity Conservation in Forests in
Times of Climate Change’’, which hosted paper presentations based on theoretical considerations or case studies dealing with one or several of the following three aspects:
• Analysis of the main impacts of climate change on forest ecosystems, possible forest
ecosystem responses and their relation to biodiversity conservation objectives.
• Identification of promising strategies to adapt biodiversity conservation and management in forests in light of climate change and related uncertainties.
• Evaluation of general principles, objectives and reference systems of biodiversity
conservation in a changing climate.
