Cupressus lusitanica Mill. is native to Mexico, Guatemala,
and Honduras, where it is widely found in the central mountain
ranges between 1800 and 2600 m elevation. It is also found
growing in Salvador, Nicaragua and Costa Rica ascending up to
3000 m. It attains up to 30 m height and 1.2 m breast height
diameter. It performs best in nutrient rich, deep, moist, wellaerated
soils with neutral pH. Its physiological nature also helps
it to grow on poor, dry soils where other species do not grow
