There is no end to this question on Quora, is there? By profession, I am a principal software applications analyst and developer. Or something like that. Let's focus on that word "analyst." I always say people should go with their strengths, so let's apply some analysis to this situation.

You met a guy on a dating site. You met with him in meatspace twice. (That means "in real life," just in case you're not familiar with the terminology.) You've shaken hands with him, hugged him, and done other unspecified things.

I, on the other hand, have not met this guy, nor any other guy on a dating site. I have never met him, to the best of my knowledge, in meatspace. I have never shaken his hand, certainly never hugged him, and have never done any other unspecified things.

Of the two of us, you and I, which do you suppose might have more direct evidence of his interest in you?

Oh, I could certainly draw some conclusions, seeing that he and I share the common trait of being currently in possession of certain masculine accoutrements that you, I would guess, are not possessed of. But having a fair amount of testosterone coursing through my veins only takes one so far. Actual, direct, empirical observation will be far more predictive of his mental state toward you than simple statistical analysis.

As Jackie Chan might say, do you understand the words that are coming out from my keyboard? I am saying that you are wasting time asking Quora how to know whether your guy is interested in you. Time you could be spending in the field, doing research. That is to say, time you could be spending in his company, getting to know how he thinks, how he responds, what he likes, what he dislikes, whether he's nice to restaurant staff, how he treats his mom...

Trust your own eyes and ears before you trust the guesses and suppositions of the writhing morass of strangers known as Quora. We're great at crowdsourcing knowledge, but when it comes to knowing whether a particular individual is romantically inclined toward some other particular individual, Quora is frankly a bit of a disappointment.
