Black Tiger Shrimp,Penaeus monodon has been one of the
main export agricultural products of India. It is the largest
of all cultured species that can reach upto 36cm in length
(Nahavandi et al., 2010). Farm-reared shrimp is increasing
in popularity and profitability due to its exclusive flavour
and high nutritive value (FAO, 2005). However, culture of
this marine shrimp has been affected continuously by
disease problems that have lead to a decline in production
or even the collapse of the farming system in some areas of
the country. To cope with the disease outbreaks, some
farmers apply antibiotics, which can cause negative
consequences to shrimp products involving drug residues.
Growth and survival of shrimp larvae is greatly affected
mainly by their nutrition as well as occurrence of infectious
diseases
