Australian Quarantine

Be aware of Australia’s quarantine requirements when you enter Australia. Your bags will be x-rayed, screened or examined by quarantine or customs officers.
Declare if you have visited a rural area, a farm or have been in contact with farm animals outside Australia in the last 3 months. If you have you should avoid contact with farm animals for seven days after you enter Australia.
Quarantine officers may inspect your clothing, shoes and equipment for contamination that could carry the foot and mouth virus or other serious agricultural pests and diseases. Quarantine officers will organize for contaminated items to be treated, cleaned and/or disinfected.
Declare all items of food and anything made from plants or animals, including products listed on the back of this leaflet.
Remember, a breach of Australia’s quarantine laws can result in on-the-spot fines or prosecution.
