Wat pho is a short 10 minute walk away from the Grand palace and is famous for its 46-metre long enormous reclining golden Buddha. The room housing the Buddha is reasonably small so you get the impression that the Buddha has been squeezed in there. A bowl of coins can also be purchased when entering which you can then drop into the 108 bronze bowls lining the lengths of the walls, which is said to bring good luck as 108 is a significant number for Buddhism. If you fancy a quick massage after your visit, Wat pho is considered by many as the best school for massage so the students here really know what they’re doing.
