et al. (1986) tagged small (21-39 mm
carapace width) juvenile C. sapidus with 1.5
mm long coded microwire tags. In their
study, 88% of the tags (injected into the basal
muscle of the swimming leg) were retained
through the first molt, mortality of
tagged and untagged crabs did not differ significantly(
11%v ersus 3%,r espectively),a nd
the increment in carapace width with molting
was equivalent in both groups
