Three composite egg samples were collected and shipped to Abbey Lane Laboratory (Philomath, OR) for fungus identification. Eggs with visible fungus were collected from three jars and shipped in sterile containers. Culture water from the egg incubation system was used to fill each sample container and Gentamicin (25 to 50 mg l−1) was added to the samples to reduce or eliminate environmental bacteria in the sample. Samples were subcultured on sterile houseflies and mung beans in 20 ml of sterile water. Zoospores present in subcultures were then identified to species based on reproductive morphology
