Organizations must provide information to a wide variety of uses, including government agencies, industry analysts, financial institutions, and individual decision makers. XBRL provides a mechanism for improving the efficiency of generating such information, as well as for using information obtained from external sources. Elizabeth Venko and Ann Brandt proposed that AOE take advantage of the new capabilities XBRL provides to improve the efficiency and reduce the costs associated with providing financial information to external users. Linda Spurgeon and Stephanie Cromwell agreed to the acquisition of add-in tools that support XBRL.
