Temple superheroes
Some people think this is a bad idea. Superheroes shouldn't be in a Buddhist temple, they say.
Others think it is a good idea because more families bring their children to temples.
Indeed, a temple in Nam Phong district of Khon Kaen is seeing many more visitors after worshippers donated three large superhero statues. They were part of worshippers' "kae bon" promises after what they wished for came true.
The first was a huge Hulk statue, then a four-metre-tall Bumblebee, followed by a Superman statue.
Wirat Sriwichai, an official at the temple, said the number of the visitors had doubled since the statues had been put up on the temple grounds.
She said many parents brought their children to the temple to see and take photos with the superheroes. While at the temple, the children also learned about Buddhist teachings, she said.
