Happy Sunday friends! I'm feeling a little something spiritual so I thought I might share something I practice, which is apart of my meditation....
Before I start, in order to clear my mind, I focus on this simple but profound thought...
'You have the right to not think anything.'
Our minds are constantly blasting us with images, ideas, judgements and a plethora of other thoughts. We get so intertwined in these thoughts that we forget we are not the thoughts themselves; true self lies in a calm mind.
Buddhism teaches a principle of emptiness. At first, I interpreted this emptiness as 'hollowness.' But upon practicing more meditation I have found that, as you clear your mind of all thought, you experience a fullness of no thought. The emptiness of mind is actually a fullness of spirit.
But this is not as easy as it sounds. The mind is a ferocious and relentless organ. By giving myself the right, as if it was a part of my own written constitution, I allow myself to have no thought.
I encourage all of you to empty yourself of thought. You have the right to have no thought. We all have something that plagues us: a lost loved one, an illness, debt, unstable relationships etc.
The point is that for a few minutes a day you have the right to not think about it and experience the true state of self, which is peace.
Be well and know that I am sending you all love!
