Additionally, cloning revealed representatives of
Methanomicrobiales (e.g. Methanospirillum) in the mesophilic cycle.
This agrees with previous studies (McHugh et al., 2004; Conrad and
Wetter, 1990), which have recorded the positive effects of low
temperatures on hydrogenotrophic methanogens, e.g. Methanomicrobiales.
Narihiro et al. (2009) reported similar results:
Methanomicrobiales and Methanosaetaceae (e.g. Methanosaeta)
were detected only in the mesophilic cycles.
