The dish is cooled to room temperature, some drops
of water to moisten the ash and 1 ml each of concentrated
hydrochloric and nitric acids is added drop by drop, while
slowly swirling the dish. To accelerate the dissolution of
the ash, the dish is gently heated on the hotplate. The
cooled solution is transferred to a 50 ml volumetric flask
and diluted to the mark with deionized water. To monitor
contamination, a blank with ethyl alcohol, LASA and
the other acids, is run.
