The bactericidal activity of the PHMG derivatives may be classified
in the following manner: W-PHB/PLA > A-PHB/PLA > S-PHB/
PLA. The bactericidal properties of all the derivatives were strongly
positively correlated (R in the range from 0.75 to 0.80) to the
concentration of PHMG. All of the derivatives exerted a much
stronger bactericidal influence on the cells of E. coli. The reduction
number (R) of bacteria cells capable to growth on the surface
composites PHB and PLA with PHMG salt of sulfanilic acid and state
ranges from 0.74 to 1.35 depending on the concentration. According
to ISO 22196, the antibacterial effects are demonstrated only byWPHB/
PLA derivative containing PHMG in the concentration of at 1%,
since in the case of both test strains incubated on the film containing
W-PHB/PHMG derivative in the concentration of 1%, after
24 h the living and viable bacterial cells were reduced R 2
