People with learning disabilities have always had to go out on a limb and the limbis often cut from underneath them. Dual diagnoses are becoming more and more common across people with learning disabilities. For example, many students with ADHD are often diagnosed with depression. The manifestation of disability oppression may explain why people with learning disabilities are suffering from additional psychological disabilities. Nevertheless, the PHPs in this study have shown us that despite the odds and the ongoing challenges, they will and have persevered. This does not to lessen the pain, the amount of work and the struggle they have experienced to be successful in life, but acknowledges that success despite the challenges.
