After the decision was made to mass produce the Prius,
top management in line organizations including the design,
body design, engine technology, production technology,
quality control, electronic, factory and sales divisions, and
overhead divisions formed a ‘‘leader team’’ as a grand synthesis ba from the two project organizations. In this leader
team, phronetic leaders from management layers in all divisions were able to make all relevant decisions and take the
necessary actions to adapt to the current state of affairs,
and demonstrate and accumulate phronesis to dynamically
synthesize tacit and explicit knowledge.
