A conceptual synthesis of ICT usage in business strategy yields a strategic multidimensional framework or an ‘info-space’. This attempts to systematize our understanding of the use of ICTs in business and to illustrate all strategic implications for organizations. Figure 2.5 demonstrates the multidimensional character of the framework, as well as the technologies it uses in order to perform its business functions. The framework develops a space of interaction, which can be represented as the internal part of a cube. The cube is formed by three principle dimensions and technological enablers, namely: • Intranets for employees and managers of the organization internally; • Extranets for external but privileged-access stakeholders such as partners, suppliers, loyal and authenticated customers; and • The internet, which offers a window to the world and enables everybody to interact with the organization.
