Dear Colleagues,
Recent world events highlight the uncertain nature of the times in which we live. Mead Johnson Nutrition is committed to ensuring that all of our employees work in a safe and secure environment, whether at our facilities, in home offices or while traveling. For this reason, it is important that managers and supervisors be able to contact you in the event of an emergency – at any time of the day or night.
In recent weeks, we have installed and tested a new Emergency Notification System (ENS). This global tool is designed to quickly and reliably provide alerts and updates about emergencies – such as weather, natural disasters and workplace issues – and is an example of our commitment to your safety and the continuity of our business.
Just last week – late Thursday evening U.S. time – we had occasion to activate ENS for the first time, because of a significant IM system outage. Unfortunately, we had not yet rolled out launch communications worldwide, so many of you were caught by surprise by the notifications.
ENS sends alerts and status updates via multiple channels, including mobile phones, work phones, email and more. Importantly, the system also allows for two-way communication to ensure delivery and receipt of messages in real time. In certain cases, ENS will be used to send information that requires a response from our employees. That data will be immediately compiled in a report, allowing MJN to confirm you are safe – or do further follow-up – in the event of an emergency.
Because we are a global company that operates on a 24/7 basis, sometimes these notifications will arrive at inconvenient times for some employees. While we cannot avoid that, please be assured that ENS will only be used sparingly, when there is a significant event impacting our business or our employees.
In order for the system to work well, it is crucial that we have accurate contact information. To that end, I am asking that all MJN employees make the time to ensure that their Sapien profile data is complete and up to date. In the event of an emergency, we will be relying on that information to contact you if need be. Please reach out to your local HR Generalist if you have any questions regarding how to access and update your Sapien profile.
For those of you who have not yet signed up for ENS, you will be receiving an email invitation today or tomorrow to set up your user name and password. Then, you will be able to log on to the ENS / Everbridge Portal, where you can adjust your profile to ensure that notifications are sent to the correct work and personal numbers and emails addresses – in the order you prefer.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation in this important effort, as your safety and being able to connect with you in emergency situations are of utmost importance to our company.
Sincerely,
Ian Ormesher
