It is a dynamic capability that allows the sustainable growth of an organization (McEvily et al. 2004). It
has also been considered as a strategic resource (Gopalakrishnan & F. Damanpour 1997), and an
essential element in achieving competitive strategy. The terms innovation capacity, innovative
capability, innovation capability and innovativeness are used interchangeably throughout the revised
literature. For some authors, this has hampered the development of innovation theory (Dewett et al.
