Participants were tested 90 min before each match during the 4-day tournament simulation and approximately 22 h after the final match. All pre-match testing was conducted in controlled conditions in either a research laboratory or indoor sports stadium and tests were completed at the same time of day and under the same environmental conditions (22+0.58C, 40+0.5% relative humidity, and 1014+4 Hpa). Participants recorded their perception of fatigue and recovery (only days 2–5), underwent blood sampling, and performed physical performance and physiological tests (countermovement jump, repeated sprint ability, heart rate, and rating of perceived exertion after a standard 5-min shuttle run). After each match, participants undertook either cold-water immersion at 10+0.58C or thermoneutral
immersion at 34+0.58C.
