a sufficient inhibition effect, we were able to maintain inoculation
levels of bacteria (i.e., growth was inhibited) after 5 days through
the combined use of ferulic acid þ glycine/sodium acetate. This
could be the result of increased penetration of the bacterial cell by
sodium acetate due to glycine's ability to inhibit cell wall synthesis
and ferulic acid's ability to increase the permeability of the cell
membrane.
