All parameters of spore dimensions of H. rhinogobii, which was previously described from the gill and the intestine of R. giurinus in China [16, 17], overlap with those of the present species, and there are no remarkable differences in spore shape between them. However, the histological examination revealed that there were two distinct types of infection in the gills, namely intrafilamental and intralamellar types, which were defined by Molna ́r [9].
