A couple of other points of consideration with regards to scratches on the surface of the package per section E011 in the spec that Kyle references:
1. Does the scratch violate marking traceability? In the examples shown, the answer is no it does not and therefore not rejectable due to marking traceability standards;
2. Is the scratch superficial or gross/heavy? I can’t tell from the pictures on the depth of the scratch, but if it > 4 mils (.1mm) deep than it is rejectable per this criteria and as Kyle stated in his reply. If it is < 4 mils (.1mm) deep than it can be deemed superficial and acceptable.
As we are all aware, we need to identify the root cause of this scratching and implement appropriate corrective actions as no scratches are desirable. From my experience, I would look to see what the operators are using for tools on the machine(s) to clear part jamming…it appears to me that this is a likely source of the scratches (due to wavy scratch lines and non-linear lines) and operators should not have any sharp metal tools to aid jam clearing or poking of devices.
