Categorising the codes initially looked like a daunting challenge as there seemed to be a vast amount of codes developed at the initial coding process. I think that the initial discussion and manual writing of codes helped us to capture as much about from the interviews as possible, more than if we had used the NVivo software straight away. NVivo was an excellent tool when seeing the patterns and developing the themes and categories from the transcripts in a clear and effective way. Themes began to emerge after the open and axial coding stages as we were both very familiar with the data at this stage and could see a clear relationship on the software and develop charts and graphs to see relationships and strengths of certain codes.
