Panasonic recently announced a number
of new 4K Ultra HD (UHD) cameras,
including the AG-DVX200 and AKUB3000.
Are these products highlighted
at BroadcastAsia2015,
and how does
Panasonic see 4K UHD developing in
Asia-Pacific?
Supachai Chanyasawad: We are introducing
the AG-DVX200, affectionately known
as DVX4K camera, as well as the AK-UB3000
at BroadcastAsia2015. The AK-UB3000 is
a working sample of our 4K Box Camera,
while the DVX4K is the first working unit
in the world, and we are showcasing its
picture quality on the show floor. Also on
display is the designer’s concept of DVX4K,
and how the product’s unique design was
conceptualised.
4K UHD mostly refers to broadcast usage
because of the fact that it is quad HD (3,840
x 2,160). In Asia-Pacific, customers who have
already bought 4K UHD TV sets will have
to source their 4K UHD content from the
Internet, because there will not be any 4K
UHD broadcast in the near future.
However, 4K UHD is now used widely to
shoot feature films, TV commercials as well
as documentaries.
Except for feature films, which use full
Cinema 4K (4,096 x 2,160), most of the
usage of 4K UHD is 4K Mastered, which is
then down-converted to HD. In this 4K UHD
for HD shooting scenario, we can have 4K
UHD Mastered content for the future, and
during down-converting, we can carry out
HD stabilising, tracking or zoom within 4K
pixels, while still getting very high-quality
HD content.

emerging from Asia-Pacific, and what are
