meet customer requirements” (as compared to meet Wal-Mart compliance in 2004)
followed by “better inventory visibility” and “better supply chain visibility” (which were
also the next two reasons in the 2004 study). The average for the reason “to meet
customer requirements” was 4.25 on a scale of 1-5, whereas the next highest average was
3.17 for “better inventory visibility.” This indicates that meeting the customer
requirements is the single most important factor for companies to adopt RFID
technology overriding all other reasons. Again, these results provide some empirical
support to what has often been reported in the popular press.
