I'm 17 and lonely; in face, I've been this way since I was I was 12. All of my friends have girlfriends. I'm going to university next year and will know nobody. I've heard if you don't have a girlfriend before entering university, it'll be difficult to find one at uni as they will all be paired off since high school! So,I'm thinking of asking a girl in my class out on a date but I also have my doubts about her because she's single too. Is there something wrong with her as well?
Thank you very much,
A Lonely Boy
Dear A Lonely Boy,
Single girls are the best to ask on dates. If you start asking girls who already have boyfriends, you could end up in big trouble. This idea you have about staying single if you arrive at university without a girlfriend is also wrong: people will be arriving from all over the country and this is the best time in your life to make friends Who knows, maybe these new friendships will grow into something more. But first you have to change your attitude. Being single is not a disease but if you carry on thinking thus way you could end up really stressed. Relax and let things happen naturally.
Good luck,
Annie
