2.3.1.3. Microwave assisted extraction (MAE). A laboratory scale microwave extraction apparatus (Multiwave 3000,Microwave Reaction System, Graz, Austria) operated under high
pressure and temperature rates was used for extraction. The apparatus was equipped with a digital controlled systemfor temperature, time and power. Five grams of C. sinensis peel powder were extracted with 50 ml of 80% ethanol. Samples were heated for 180 s at 100, 200, 300 or 400 W. The sample temperatures were measured by using a thin thermocouple for each power: 100 W corresponds to 67◦C, 200 W to 76◦C,300 W to 92◦C and 400 W to 108◦C.
