Once the corn has been planted it generally takes about 90 days on average for it to mature. It is important to keep the soil moist, which is usually why farmers are so stressed; if nature does not help then it can be costly to keep their crops well irrigated. Like many plants, if the soil is dry then the corn will generally show a curling of the leaves. Once the corn reaches about 1.5 feet it is ideal to water it approximately once a week. It is also not recommended that farmers use chemical fertilizers for “external nutrients” because they have long term side effects that may be harmful.
