The market must clearly be researched, understood and developed by the entrepreneur. More than ever, in today’ s rapidly changing business environment there is the need to isolate and capture the specific target niche that will provide the sales revenue for the venture. In most instances the entry point for new technology, for example, is through the “innovative” buyer who is characterized by a need to use, apply or own the latest in new applications. This niche customer is important in two contexts. First ,they are likely to be most receptive to the product, assuming it is properly packaged in an appeal to needs and, second, they are the launch point for expansion and growth into the larger market.
