The ‘Australian seabed’ means so much of the seabed
adjacent to Australia (other than the seabed within the Joint Petroleum Development Area) within
the area comprising of the areas described in Schedule 2 to the Petroleum (Submerged Lands) Act
1967 (Cth) (the PSL Act), the Coral Sea area, and part of the seabed beneath the coastal area, or
the continental shelf of Australia.11
