As such, the motion of a single car at constant
speed can be reduced to an object acted upon by
two forces: a friction force powered by the car’s
engine and ultimately caused by static friction
between the traction wheels and the ground, and
an opposing dragging force due to air resistance,
as shown in figure 1, where the two forces are
represented at the center-of-mass (CoM) of the
system.
