in 1869,van gogh started his working life as a clerk in goupil & cie, an art gallery founded by his uncle in the Hague.Four years later, he was transferred to London to complete his training. There he fell in love with the daughter of his landlady but was regrettably turned down.This ordeal caused him great despair and derailed his life so badly that he was unable to continue working effectively.In 1875, his father and uncle sent van gogh to the Goupil & cie Paris gallery, where he became hugely indlgnant at how art was treated as a commodity, and he manifested this to the gallery's customers. As a result, he was eventually forced to resign from the company in 1876.
