shows the diffusion of the antioxidants from Ecoflex and Ecoflex/PLA films into the food simulant (ethanol 95%) at 30 8C. A slower release of a-tocopherol was observed in Ecoflex/PLA films (Fig. 4a), were the equilibrium was reached after 4 h, compared to Ecoflex films (Fig. 4b), that arrived at the equilibrium after 31 h (data not shown). These results would suggest a stronger interaction of a-tocopherol with the polymer matrix when PLA was present. The films containing olive leaf extract reached the equilibrium after 48 h (data not shown), showing no differences on the diffusion behaviour among film types
