The symbol of a mighty hunting dinosaur,
Tyrannosaurus weighed 6 tonnes or more,
yet could probably
run faster than
any human
today, as
suggested by the
spacing of its
preserved
footprints. It was
one of the very last
dinosaurs, surviving to the
great end-of-Cretaceous extinction
65 million years ago. Bite marks of its teeth
have been found on the plant-eating
dinosaur Triceratops. Its large, strong teeth
and thick, powerful neck suggest that it
tackled living prey, biting with incredible
power and pulling or 'sawing' its head from
side to side to slice out chunks of flesh.

famous Hell Creek Formation rocks in Harding
County; South Dakota, USA. Many Tyrannosaurus
remains have ,been located in the area.
