At the Newe Ya’ar Research Center, the same cultivars and accessions
were sown in 0.5-L pots filled with sand, one seed per pot,
and five pots (replicates) per genotype. The pots were maintained
in an unheated greenhouse. Plants were irrigated and fertilized
twice a day to allow leaching of excess salt from the pot, except
for 5 days after inoculation during which irrigation was performed
without leaching. Three-week-old seedlings were inoculated with
the nematodes as above. Root galling index was recorded 6 weeks
later.
