closed, the load voltage is Vdc/2. Thus, a square wave output or a bipolar pulsewidth-modulated output, as described in Sec. 8.10, can be produced.
The voltage across an open switch is twice the load voltage, or Vdc. As with
the full-bridge inverter, blanking time for the switches is required to prevent a
short circuit across the source, and feedback diodes are required to provide continuity of current for inductive loads.
