I am writing to you with a problem I am having with my Buffalo HD-PZ Mini-station Extreme 1TB hard drives. I recently upgraded from Windows 8 to Windows 8.1. I have purchased 3 of your Mini-station Extreme 1 TB hard drives in Thailand and like them very much. Unfortunately, since installing Windows 8.1 they are going through repeated “password authentication” processes which is annoying and which have caused me to lose some work as the drives appear to be in a “sleep” mode. My drives are set up for auto-authentication with my primary desktop PC so I don’t have to enter the password all the time.
I am concerned about uninstalling and re-installing the current HD-PZ software as I have the disks encrypted. If I do a full re-install, I am concerned that it will wipe the drives and I will lose all my files stored there. Is there an updated version of your firmware which I can update the software on my PC for Windows 8.1? If not, how do I correct this problem of the drives going into a sleep mode and continually doing repeated “password authentication” processes throughout the day??
Best Regards,
